Nursery rhymes have been with us for times immemorial. They are the first songs that tiny tots hear to form their impressions of the world. The catchy phrases and repetitive tunes engage the children in a way to ignite their curiosity, creativity and imagination.

Keeping this in mind, the students of EYP1 participated in the Verbal Linguistic Event, 'Poetry Recital', which was held on Friday, 9th August 2024. The event provided a platform for the little ones to enhance their oratorical skills, vocabulary and confidence. The children practiced regularly in their respective classes for the event before presenting on the final day.

The children came dressed as characters from their favourite rhymes. They sang their chosen rhymes and spoke about the characters they were dressed as.
For example, one child dressed up as a shepherd and recited “Baa Baa Black Sheep." Another dressed as a farmer and sang "Old MacDonald Had a Farm." One more child dressed as a penguin and shared the threats penguins face worldwide due to global warming.

They got one minute (sixty seconds) to introduce themselves and recite the rhyme. They sang with all zest and zeal. The props that the children presented were a feast for the eyes. The children participated enthusiastically as they got an opportunity to exhibit their talent and oratorical skills with confidence. They captivated the hearts of their peers and teachers.

Two students from each class were selected to further participate in the Inter-Section event held on Monday 12th August 2024.
