Club activities are true and practical experiences received by the students. The theoretical knowledge gets strengthened when a relevant co-curricular activity is organized related to the content taught in the school.
The intellectual aspects of mental development are accomplished by classroom teaching, aesthetic development, character building, spiritual and physical growth, moral values, and creativity, and are supported by club activities.
It helps to develop self-awareness, coordination, adjustment, speech fluency, and critical thinking among students at the school.
It provides avenues of socialization, self-identification, and self-assessment when the child comes in contact with organizers, fellow participants, teachers, and people in and outside the school during any cultural activity.
The different clubs offered to the students for ‘learning by doing’ are:
1. Green Brigade Club (Ecological awareness)
The global warming phenomenon has left an increasing number of us worrying about the planet. Instead of just despairing we must ask ourselves, what can I do to save the planet, to conserve our fragile environment? Many people are well on their way to changing their habits to become eco-friendly. The Green Brigade (Ecological awareness) club teaches how to incorporate habits to save the environment and keep the ecological balance through the 7 Rs- Reuse, Recycle, Reduce, Refuse, Regift, and Repair.
2. Craft Club:
Craft lets the mind be free and creative. It’s a good way to interpret aesthetics without using words. It is better to create than to emulate, creating is the true essence of life. Craft Club teaches you how to be creative.
3. Dramatics Club:
Theater is so endlessly fascinating because it is a representation of life. The Dramatics Club is a true manifestation of talent. Keeping up with its reputation of being a pioneer in everything, the club starts every year with an electrifying performance during the assembly. The club provides a platform for the children’s talent from various classes to hone their acting skills. The performers are introduced to both the basic and complicated nuances of theatre.
4. ICT Club:
Computers have changed the way we work, in every profession. Therefore, it is only natural that the role of computers in education is given enormous prominence. Computers play a pivotal role in every field. They aid industrial processes; they find application in medicine and play a vital role in imparting education. The uses of computers in education are manifold. In the computer club, important facets of the role of computers are taught through the application mode of learning. The foundation of ambient computing and Generative AI will find its roots in the ICT club.
5. Oratorical Club (Public speaking)
Oratory is a powerful art of speaking. The orator dominates those who hear him. He convinces the spectators with his power of reasoning and his oratorical skills thus controlling the audience’s judgment and compelling them to act.
Having good enunciation and pronunciation, confident eye contact, varied intonation, being ability to keep calm under stress and utilize suitable body language, being able to organize one's thoughts coherently, and being ability to inject humor to keep the audience engaged, are all trademarks of a good orator. These are all essential skills to being a good orator which the oratorical club helps the students develop.
6. Innovation Club (Science fun):
Today, innovation is more important than ever due to the highly competitive world that we live in. Organizations are desperate to recruit creative people who see things differently, and who can quickly analyze problems and provide creative solutions. Innovation also helps to start or grow a business through divergent and innovative thinking. Innovation Club helps to achieve all this through varied activities with design thinking at its core.
7. Western Instrumental and Vocal Music Club:
Music purifies the soul and lightens up everyday life. Western instruments give one the authority and pleasure to create melody and to be able to create a lyrical piece of one’s own. It's easy to play any musical instrument one has to string the right chord at the right time and synchronize the movements. The students get to choose from a variety of instruments like ukulele, guitar, keyboard, violin, drums, and wind instruments like recorder and saxophone. The Western instrumental and vocal music club develops a keen sense of music helps fine-tune the notes and teaches the students to read and write notations/ music scores.
8. Hindustani Instrumental, Vocal Music and Spic Macay Club:
Classical music exposes students to the rhythmic organization and patterns called tala and swears, based on the melodic foundations of which ragas of various kayaks are taught in this club. Students opting for this club may alternatively choose to learn percussion instruments such as the tabla or a string instrument, like the guitar and violin. This club inspires students to innovate and give new dimensions to music.
9. Western Dance Club:
Dance is one of the many human expressions that enthrall an audience. It consists of many human expressions which need to be manifested. Dance is a form of expression given to man like speech and it expresses the philosophy of life. As our lives become more hectic, we feel a growing need to release our stress through various dance forms and the Western dance club helps manifest this feeling of liberating the rendition of the soul.
10. Indian dance and Spic Macay ( Dance)
Dance is a form of expression that expresses the philosophy of life through body movements and various mudras. As our lives become more hectic, we feel a growing need to release our stress through various dance forms. The Indian dance club thus nurtures and hones the talents of the students who aspire to learn Indian classical – Bharatnatyam, Kathak, Odissi, folk, Manipuri, and other dance forms.
